How would you briefly describe your role? What are your responsibilities?
I am an Editor for the post production company MRPPP. I'm also a Director and part owner of the company. Mostly I edit, I do a bit of post supervising, plenty of design and motion graphics.
What are the best and worst aspects of your job?
Clients, and clients. They are the source of some of your most creative work, and the obstacles releasing the rest of it. Sometimes, however, they are right.
What are three essential attributes someone in your position needs?
Patience, a bit more of that, and lashings of attention to detail.
What sort of creative projects are you involved in outside your job?
Mostly my job is my creative project - hey, why not get paid for what you like doing?
What gives you the most creative satisfaction?
Getting away with putting ridiculous things on television.
If you, in your position now, were interviewing your younger self back at your first professional job interview, would you have given yourself a job? Why / why not?
I'd like to think I would have. I've never had an interview and not got the job. Sometimes I had to make a few follow up visits and calls to make them realise that they really needed me - or con them into it.
What do the next 12 months hold for you?
We have only recently bought the business, so I'm still learning the ropes of those facets of the work, and post production is a constant re-invention and search for more, so there's always a challenge.
