After scratching about in obscure and unrelated trades, I began working in Advertising Agencies predominantly as an illustrator for storyboards, concepts and brochures. Drawing pictures and colouring in for a living has a certain allure. Then, in the early 90s, dinosaurs stopped roaming the earth, and the world of film and advertising embraced the computer. AVID systems emerged from the primeval swamp of untrustworthy obscurity, and hit a guardedly accepting mainstream. Agencies were conned into spending far too much money on beasts they couldnt control, and urchins with no lives were conned into spending days working, and nights training themselves.
3 years of in-house Agency work interspersed with random extended travel to the global extremities, were followed by 3.5 years at Complete Post, and subsequently 5 years at MRPPP in Melbourne. Projects included advertising, features, documentaries, short films & viral internet campaigns.
In 2007, 4 other former employees and myself became the new Directors of MRPPP. We are always looking for new talent, and I hope to see the 60Sox project provide opportunity and exposure for an upcoming generation of digital urchins.
