A Sydney-based graphic designer, Michelle has lived a happily creative life, taking a career path that has spanned from early beginnings in architecture, to art teaching, visual merchandising, commissioned artworks and freelance design, and has somewhat culminated in her current full-time profession: graphic design.
After many years of university education and design training, Michelle has completed two degrees - a Bachelor of Built Environment majoring in Architecture (QUT) and a Bachelor of Design majoring in graphic design (Griffith University), as well as a Diploma of Photography (this was purely for fun). Throughout university, Michelle has won a number of awards, including the Head of School Prize for architecture (twice), the QUT Dean's Award for Academic Excellence (four times), the Griffith Award for Academic Excellence (three times), the School Medal for graphic design, and the memorial prize for overall highest achieving student.
Since graduating in 2004, Michelle has taken the opportunity to travel as much as possible, whilst still holding down both a full-time graphic design job and an ongoing freelance practice. After a recent move to Sydney, she now works as a design director in a Surry Hills studio, and spends all her free time photographing, making zines, binding books, painting, illustrating, sewing, and just generally designing and making things.
