Description

One of my university subjects required that I create a short motion graphics piece relating with a monologue set for audio. I was having great difficulty finding a suitable monologue, but after a long search came across a monologue that instantly gave me inspiration for a work. After listening a few times I found that what was being said in the monologue was slightly inconsistent with my ideas. I decided however to stick with my original idea, so despite a few geographical inconsistencies between the audio and vision, I was happy overall with this work.

That is really nice. Original and haunting. The graphic style and visual techniques capture the mood of the dialogue perfectly to create a unexpectantly emotional experience.

Now for some technical critique. It doesn't really start working until the snap zoom onto the bouncing car. I agree about swapping the second shot. I think the early shot with the cactus in the foreground could be better framed to get the car on-screen for longer while retaining the sense of distance. And the animation of the sign wobbling needs work. I didn't realise why it was strangle pulsing on the screen until the second viewing.

But still, great work.

Loved the text integrated onto the road and into the sky. (Though the timing of the latter could be tweaked slightly - we missed the first word by the time the text registered.) Great art direction. Moody stuff.

Second shot could perhaps have been flipped to keep the right to left visual journey consistent.
